Who we are

DIGITAL MEDIAYOUTH SOCCERPLAYER AND COACH DEVELOPMENTEST. VANCOUVER, BC

Beyond the Pitch is a digital media company founded to address a critical gap in how youth soccer families access credible, actionable guidance on player development, coaching methodology, and parental involvement in competitive and recreational soccer.

Our core offering is a bi-weekly digital newsletter combined with a web-based resource hub designed to serve soccer parents and youth players aged 3 to 18 β€” from a child's first kick at a community recreation program through to the demanding world of academy and provincial competition.

British Columbia is one of Canada's most vibrant soccer communities, with over 150,000 registered participants and a rapidly growing network of clubs, academies, and leagues spanning every corner of the province. Yet for many families, the pathway through this landscape can feel fragmented, overwhelming, and hard to navigate alone.

That's precisely why Beyond the Pitch exists. Our business model prioritizes sustainable growth through sponsorship partnerships rather than subscription fees, keeping our content freely accessible to every BC soccer family.

OUR MISSION

Why we exist

"To be British Columbia's most trusted digital resource for youth and adult soccer β€” empowering players, parents, and coaches with the knowledge, tools, and community connections to make the most of every stage of the game."

Soccer in BC is growing faster than the systems designed to support it. Families face an increasingly complex web of registration pathways, coaching philosophies, club politics, and financial pressures β€” often without impartial, community-centred guidance to help them make informed decisions.

Beyond the Pitch was built to change that. We translate the expertise of coaches, sporting directors, and development specialists into plain-language resources that any soccer parent or player can act on.

We cover the full spectrum: recreational and competitive play, youth academies and adult leagues, coaching philosophy and parental involvement, match analysis and player wellness. If it matters to a soccer family in BC, it matters to us.

OUR VISION

The future we're building toward

01

Every BC family navigates soccer with confidence

We envision a province where no soccer parent feels lost in the pathway system β€” where moving from recreational to competitive play, finding the right club, or understanding long-term player development is straightforward, well-explained, and locally relevant.

02

BC becomes Canada's benchmark for youth player development

With League1 BC, BCSPL, and the 2026 World Cup legacy driving investment in facilities and coaching standards, we see BC becoming the national model for developing players from grassroots to professional.

03

Soccer remains accessible regardless of income or geography

From Kelowna to Campbell River, from the Fraser Valley to North Vancouver, we are committed to ensuring our resources reach communities across all of BC β€” not just the Lower Mainland.

04

Coaches and parents become genuine development partners

We see a BC soccer community where parents understand long-term player development, where coaches are continuously upskilling, and where families and clubs work together rather than at cross-purposes.

05

Women's and girls' soccer receives the coverage it deserves

We are committed to equitable, sustained coverage of the women's and girls' game in BC β€” from recreational leagues through to League1 BC women's division and the national women's team.

06

The 2026 World Cup legacy outlasts the tournament itself

Vancouver's hosting of FIFA World Cup 2026 matches is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to inspire a new wave of players and fans across BC. We intend to be the platform that turns that inspiration into lasting participation.

FOUNDER'S STORY

The journey behind
Beyond the Pitch

"It started with a blue t-shirt and a little girl who wanted to play soccer."

When George Mrsic signed up to volunteer as his daughter's coach with the Meteors, he had no grand plan β€” just a father who wanted to be present for his daughter's love of the game. That single decision changed everything.

What followed was over two decades of service to BC's soccer community: board member, coach developer, administrator, operations manager, and technical director. Role after role, George saw the same thing β€” a passionate, dedicated community that lacked a central place to connect.

In June 2012, George attended the Canada Soccer Hall of Fame 13th Annual Induction Banquet, joining legends of the Canadian game including Craig Forrest, Nick Dasovic, Andrea Neil, Les Wilson, and Carlo Corazzin β€” players and administrators who shaped Canadian soccer history.

That night was a reminder of what the game means at its highest level. But George's heart had always been at the grassroots β€” with the families, the volunteers, the weekend coaches, and the kids who just wanted to play. Beyond the Pitch was built for them.
